JOB DESCRIPTION
You may have heard the exciting news that VML and Truett Hurst Wineries are now owned by founder Phil Hurst, in partnership with vintner Ken Wilson of Wilson Artisan Wineries. VML is an ultra-premium producer of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.
We are seeking a skilled, highly motivated and enthusiastic Harvest Intern to assist us in crafting wines during the 2024 vintage. Our Harvest Intern will be exposed to all aspects of premium wine making, including, but not limited to: vineyard scouting, fruit processing, fermentation management, pressing operations and barrel aging of a wide range of wine styles and types. Additionally, the intern will gain extensive experience with Dry Creek Valley red wines as we craft premium Petite Syrah, Zinfandel, and Bordeaux varietals for our sister wineries, Truett Hurst and deLorimier.
Previous winemaking experience is preferred, but other applicable experience will be considered. Our main criteria for consideration are: Do you have a passion for crafting top-quality wines? Do you have focus and attention to detail? Can you maintain a high level of energy, efficiency, professionalism and enthusiasm over a long and taxing vintage season? Our intern must be ready and motivated to tackle a host of tasks, from basic sanitation to advanced wine/must additions, pressing, barreling down procedures and intricate wine movements. Must be able and willing to work six days a week, 8-12 hours per day. This position is expected to last from late July through mid-November.
In addition, applicants must be at least 21 years of age, able to lift/move/carry up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis, able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, possess reliable, insured transportation, a valid class C California driver’s license, and an insurable driving record. The base range for this position is $20.00-$24.00 per hour. This range represents what we reasonable expect to pay for this position; however, actual compensation will vary based on numerous job-related factors.
